PhilaPets Now Serving East Falls
Beginning September 2009, all the perks that PhilaPets offers, including award-winning pet services, superb quality Pet Care Specialists, attentive customer service, and online pet service scheduling and account management, are now available to the pet-loving community of East Falls!
T. Ritchie (read bio), a long-time and beloved PhilaPets Pet Care Specialist, is really excited about serving the pets and pet parents of East Falls, a place that she has called home for over a decade. T. has worked for PhilaPets for over 3 years and is our reigning Pet Care Specialist of the Year, the most coveted award that PhilaPets offers. Her dedication to the animals, commitment to excellent communication, and desire to form great relationships with her pet parents have all earned her top marks in our feedback survey. She will greatly miss Philadelphia but is looking forward to forming a PhilaPets presence in East Falls and making a whole new group of furry friends!

2010 PhilaPets.com Calendar Contest
Make your furry loved one a superstar!
It's time for our eagerly anticipated annual PhilaPets Calendar Contest! To enter, send us your cutest, funniest, or sweetest photos of your pet.
The top twelve pet pictures will receive three (3) free calendars with their pet's picture and three (3) free pet visits. Not to mention that your photogenic furry one will grace the walls of over 1,300+ PhilaPets households and several local businesses! The best photo will be crowned the 2009 Cover Pet (like Taylor here was for 2009) and receive five (5) copies of the calendar and five (5) free pet visits!
Entries can be sent to calendar@philapets.com. The pictures will be blown up and printed on the top page of the calendar so please be sure to send pictures in landscape orientation and high-resolution, at least 1024 x 768.
Entries must be received no later than Friday, October 30th, 2009. Winners will be announced in the January 2010 newsletter (due out around January 15th, 2010).
To help with the costs of producing this high-quality calendar, we are seeking out sponsors. Your information will be seen by the more than 1,300+ people in the Center City area! If you or your company is interested in advertising in the calendar, please let us know and we can send you more details. This is a great opportunity and months will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Thanks again to all of our 2009 sponsors!

Nike 2009 Human Race Ambassador - Amandah
PhilaPets is proud to announce that our own Amandah Povilitus has been chosen by Nike to the one of their Ambassadors for the 2009 Human Race 10k Challenge!
We are very proud of Amandah’s accomplishment and want to get the word out to all pet parents who are avid runners and walkers to join Amandah’s team: UP TO SPEED! and begin training for a world-wide 10K run/walk to take place on Saturday, October 24th. You can run the race anywhere and all the miles you clock beforehand count towards your team’s overall mileage.

What: Schuylkill River Dog Park Festival
When: Saturday October 17, 2009 [11:00am - 3:00pm]
Where: Schuylkill River Park and Dog Run 25th and Pine Streets, Philadelphia PA Map
The Friends of Schuylkill River Dog Park will host their 2009 Fall Festival on Saturday, October 17th.
The festivities will include lots of food and music…fun for kids and pets… an eclectic mix of vendors, a fabulous silent auction, and amazing raffle prizes!
So come out and meet your neighbors, shop for unique crafts and gifts, take in the crisp autumn air, and feast on hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, cotton candy, and delicious baked goods. Vegetarians will find plenty of yummy dishes, too!
There will even be a partial agility course set up by Opportunity Barks!

What: PAWS Mutt Strut
When: Saturday October 31, 2009 [10:00am]

The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) will host the third annual Mutt Strut on October 31st, where dogs and the people who love them will walk the 1.5-mile scenic route in FDR Park to raise funds and awareness for PAWS' efforts to save Philadelphia's homeless, abandoned and unwanted animals.
